During 2 trips to the Philippines I could do the following works. Vigan is a picturesque town in the northern Luzon, capitol city of Ilocos Sud, where many Spanish villas remained. I had the chance to stay in one of them, the Villa Angela. There were pictures in the villa, which is now functioning as an hotel. Callezas, horse drawn carriages are used to carry tourists through town. In the villa pictures where displayed showing that Tom Cruise stayed there during the shooting of a movie.

During another stay I traveled to the eastern island of Palawan. As it was in September, I hit it right during the rainy season and raining it was every day, very heavily. I stayed in Sabang in a resort directly next to the rain forest. One painting overlooking some fish ponds and the rain forest in the background with yellow bell flowers in the foreground was done in the rain while I was sitting under a roof. For the other picture showing typical nipa huts the sun was coming out on times, but I had to interrupt working on it, when the downpour began, since the nipa hut I was sitting under was not protecting from the strong winds.
